Aeron Arlin Genet is the Director and Air Pollution Control Officer for the Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District (SBCAPCD), a local government agency that works to protect the people and the environment of Santa Barbara County from the effects of air pollution. Ms. Arlin Genet heads the SBCAPCD with an extensive background in air quality at the local and state levels. Her current goals and previous accomplishments involve focusing on regional collaboration to address climate change through climate action plans, mitigation and adaptation. Before heading SBCAPCD, Arlin Genet served as the Manager of the Planning, Monitoring, and Outreach Division at the San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control District for 16 years. Arlin Genet has extensive experience working with the California Air Pollution Control Officers Association (CAPCOA), an association of Air Pollution Control Officers representing all 35 local air quality agencies in California. She currently serves on the Board of CAPCOA. Relevant to today’s discussion, she was a contributor to many CAPCOA guidance documents on land use and climate change. Ms. Arlin Genet started her career working six years for Western States Petroleum Association on downstream issues associated with fuel reformulation and mobile source issues. Aeron is a graduate from Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo with a B.S. in Biological Sciences.
